The memory of the Hotel Aviz and its equally acclaimed Restaurant, which has been frequented from 1930's to 1960's by famous personalities such as Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra and Calouste Gulbenkian, who even made it his home for 13 years, can now be retraced.
The hotel is now situated in a more recent building, but the concept, the timeless style and hospitality, together with some of it's original and priceless pieces of art, have all been maintained.

With a long lasting history and now back to Lisbon’s city centre, the
Aviz Restaurant is proud to be considered one of the top gourmet
restaurants in Portugal. The restaurant offers intimate luxury and will, once again, serve dishes based on the recipes that earned the restaurant
reputation.
The restaurant is open for breakfast from 7.00am until 10.30am, for
lunch from 12.30am until 3.00pm and for dinner from 07.30pm until
10.30pm.
Located at the ground floor and next to the restaurant, our bar is
the ideal place either for just an enjoyable relaxing moment, or to
keep you updated with the daily newspapers, which you can always find
there.
Open from 7.00 am in the morning to 1.00 am at night.

Room information

The hotel offers 70 rooms, including 14 Signature Suites, 17
Doubles, 28 Premium Singles and 11 Single Rooms.
All the rooms are equipped with a mini-bar, free safety deposit box,
direct phone with voice mail, data port for Internet connection,
cable TV, air-conditioning and a working desk.
The rooms are also equipped with a bathroom with a hairdryer, a bath robe and slippers.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. But there were a few small things that should be corrected: there was a floor doorstop in front of the toilet that was extremely hazardous--both of us hurt our feet on several occasions; there were no hooks for hanging up clothing in the bathroom; the beds were firm but too hard on the back; we had to ask for tissues, which were not usually provided.

Good location, although rather further from the main tourist areas than we were led to believe from the details on the website.

One member of the reception staff was not particularly friendly.

Room and toilet were spotless. Comfortable bed and cosy bedroom. Breakfast was good as well > scramble eggs, mushrooms, bacon, croissants..you could even have champagne if you felt like. It's about 15, 20 minutes walk to city center. Staff were friendly and helpful

Helpful staff and very good location. Also excellent food in restaurant particularly at night although the restaurant itself is fine for breakfast but is not really the right atmosphere for evening dining.. The mezzanine floor has an ugly ceiling and the decor is not cosy although it is comfortable for breakfast. However, it is worth trying as we found it the best restaurant we had tried.

Room cramped. Mirror outside of bathroom was in pokey little cupboard with no accessible plug. Bed very hard so put spare duvet underneath. Bathrom had very little space for toilet bags! Wardrobe was simply awful and drawers not convenient. Safe was right on the bottom so you had to practically lie on floor to operate it! But it was very quiet.

It was friendly and well organised. The buffet breakfast was excellent - the good choice was always fresh. The hotel was only a short distance from the metro.

The no-smoking area in the restaurant was too small - several guests (including ourselves) had to use the smoking area.But this is a minor complaint as we only encountered one smoker!
