Hotel Estheréa is ideally located on one of the most beautiful and quiet canals in the centre of he city, only 300 metres from the Dam Square and the Royal Palace. Central Station, the main shopping district, museums and theatres are all within walking distance.

Hidden behind an elegant 17th century facade is a stylish and charming four star hotel with 71 recently renovated rooms, all, in addition to other facilities, also featuring wireless internet.

Our excellent facilities include a beautifully decorated lounge, library and hotel bar, all offering a warm and intimate ambiance. Our elevator reaches all five floors. Hotel Estheréa has been a family owned hotel for more than 60 years.

Hotel information

Hotel Estheréa was founded during the second world war by Maria Flieger-Gruyters, mother of three daughters. She lost her husband Joseph in the war and moved to Amsterdam to earn a living. She rented a house along the canal in which she started a small inn with 12 rooms. During the years after the war she also bought neighbouring houses and expanded her inn.

Today, the Estheréa has 71 rooms spread over 6 houses (4 houses along the canal and 2 houses in the Spuistraat, all connected with each other). Unfortunately, Maria Flieger-Gruyters passed away in 1992 and one of her three daughters, Elly Esselaar-Flieger took over together with her husband Rob and her three children Jan-Willem, Caroline and Esther. Today the third generation is setting forth what Maria started more than 60 years ago.

The historical buildings are dating back to the 17th century. The comfortable rooms are renovated approximately every 5 years. In addition to the listed facilities, they are all equipped with a private bathroom and wireless internet. Our elevator reaches all rooms.

In our elegant lounge with canal view we serve complimentary coffee and tea.
We sell foreign newspapers and there is a small library with books in different languages that you can borrow during your stay. We have colouring books and pencils for our small guests as well as baby beds and a high chair in the breakfast room (all free of charge).

Food & beverage

Our breakfast buffet is served daily from 7:00 am till 10:00 am. Breakfast at Estherea features freshly baked bread and rolls, muffins, muesli, yoghurt, milk, corn flakes, fresh fruit, fruit salad, a generous selection of cheese and cold cuts, different kinds of jam, honey, fruit juices, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, freshly brewed coffee and tea.
If you prefer to enjoy your breakfast privately, please inform us and we will serve you breakfast in your room, at no extra cost.

In our lobby there is free coffee, tea and hot chocolate 24 hours a day

Our attentive staff at the front desk is always happy to recommend you some excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood for lunch and dinner.

Hotel Estheréa is situated in the heart of the city center within walking distance from the Dam square, museums, main shopping area and night life.

Important information

On arrival at the hotel, the reception will request to make a credit card imprint as a guarantee during your stay. If no credit card is available, the hotel will ask for a prepayment of the total stay and an extra deposit of EUR 70 per room. If no additional items are charged to the room number, the EUR 70 deposit will be returned during check out.

It's a beautiful hotel in a central but quiet location, with cosy and warm rooms and halls, serving free cookies, cofee, tea and chocolate 24/24 hrs. We had a standard room - pretty small, but very nice and with enough space to move around, and, to our surprise, it had a view to Singel canal. The staff is very friendly and we received nice gifts for our anniversary.

Beautiful hotel, great location, would stay there again & recommend it to friends.

Construction noise early each morning if not staying in room at front of hotel.

The staff was very helpful for everything. They had snack and fresh tea/coffee for 24 hours.

The price you had on the website and the charge was diffrent. The website price was cheaper.

The room was huge, beautifully decorated with lovely linens, towels and toiletries. Lobby was elegant with spacious facilities. First class courteous staff. I would love to return to this hotel. After the closet we slept in (Copenhagen) for 3 nights, we thought we were in a palace.

Very friendly staff and made us very welcome would recomend this hotel
very central to everything. And room had a lovely view of canel

A pity they do not include breakfast as 16 euro is a bit pricey.

this hotel has an excellent location and the free 24hr hot chocolate tea coffee sweets and cakes are absolutly brilliant the staff were very friendly i would definitly stay here again and recommend this hotel to all going to Amsterdam.
